Trans-Sped’s electric truck is already on the roads of Debrecen
Trans-Sped Group is constantly looking for and applying solutions that help make logistics more efficient and environmentally friendly. The logistics industry is an environmentally burdensome sector, so in order to achieve sustainability, all actors in the supply chain must take steps to reduce these environmental impacts.

The introduction of an electric truck

At Trans-Sped, we carry out our activities by constantly keeping in mind the priority of sustainable development and environmental protection, the latest development of which is the introduction of the operational use of the electric drive chain. The task to be solved was to replace the daily diesel-powered transport run in an urban environment between the factory and the warehouse with an electric solution.

The applicability of electric drive chain technology requires the transport task to be within range and a properly built infrastructure. Euro5 diesel trucks cannot take advantage of the technology's inherent advantages especially in urban traffic conditions.

The use of electric trucks currently available on the market requires many compromises, which do not yet provide an operationally sustainable solution for logistics companies. However, there are milder alternatives, like in our case the option offered by Electromega, in which factory-made diesel trucks are converted and equipped with an electric drive chain, specifically for urban and industrial applications. The vehicle converted in this way is fully suitable for our continuous transport tasks, and the introduction of the technology is significantly more cost-effective than factory solutions. The electric truck will be used to serve a continuous transport task with 4 rounds per day, with a total distance of 95 km, which will save the city 40,000 kg of CO2 and 6.3 kg of NOx pollution on an annual basis. In addition, noise and airborne dust pollution are also significantly reduced.

With the introduction of the new environmentally friendly truck, we are able to reduce emissions and dust and noise pollution caused by transport. The advantages of this will be enjoyed not only by the contracting parties, but also by the wider community, the population of the city of Debrecen.

What does sustainable logistics mean to us?

Our company is at the forefront of the logistics application of the most modern technological solutions. A significant part of our warehouse rolling equipment is electrically driven, and our future goal is the highest degree of automation, robotization, and efficiency improvement of warehouses, with continuously reduced emissions.

In addition, we are planning to build a solar panel system on the roof of our warehouse buildings, which can support our own energy consumption from renewable sources. Since 2010, when constructing our own warehouses, we prefer the air-to-air pump solution, which uses renewable energy sources for heating and cooling the premises.

We carry out our activities in such a way that we constantly keep in mind the priority of sustainable development and environmental protection, so among other things we have a fleet of vehicles that burdens the environment as little as possible, and the average age of our vehicles with Euro 6 environmental protection classification is 1.5 years, which we achieve by continuously updating the fleet. This year, 37 new trucks were purchased.

And at the end of 2021, we launched our service called ZERO, which enables more environmentally friendly delivery of goods. As part of the service, the goods are delivered by Trans-Sped's own fleet, with the regularization of lockable, reusable crates, completely free of packaging materials. In this way, not only the cardboard box used for delivery, but also the waste generated by the space-filling materials is excluded from the online ordering and delivery process.
